Sudan remains at the epicentre of a worsening displacement crisis, with 11.4 million individuals currently displaced across the country, including 8.6 million IDPs since April 2023, as reported by IOM/DTM. Recent escalations in violence in Aj Jazirah State alone have displaced 343,473 individuals, further overwhelming response capacities in Gedaref, Kassala, and River Nile States. The Aj Jazirah Flash Update 1.0 highlights significant secondary displacement patterns and the urgent need for shelter, food, and WASH support.

The humanitarian situation remains dire across multiple states. In Blue Nile State, over 1,500 households were displaced to Damazine, Agadi, Buk, and Bout following armed confrontations in Tadamon locality, while 14,100 households fled from Gulli and Bout towns. These IDPs face critical shortages in shelter, WASH services, and food, as movement restrictions caused by security checkpoints hinder aid delivery. Reports of GBV incidents and violence further compound the challenges.
