16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign 2023

In support of this annual international campaign, the global CCCM Cluster is running a social media campaign to increase awareness and share some of the work CCCM country clusters and their partners are doing to prevent and mitigate risks of gender-based violence.

The 2023 Campaign, which runs from 25 November to 10 December, has the theme “UNiTE! Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls”. The campaign highlights that violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world, and calls for the sharing of actions and investments being made to create a world free from violence towards women.

How does CCCM contribute and invest to prevent and mitigate the risks of GBV in sites?

CCCM actors play a key role in decreasing the risks of GBV in sites, including by:
•    working to ensure that the needs of all persons residing in sites, including women and girls, are understood, addressed and monitored across sectors;
•    conducting assessments to identify risks and barriers within sites, including through collaborating with protection actors on site safety audits;
•    ensuring women and girls are consulted, and promoting their meaningful participation in decision-making related to the management of sites, for example in site governance structures;
•    working with and strengthening the capacity of women in site-level governance structures, and supporting community-led projects;
•    conducting safe referrals
